Slay The Spire 2 Addresses 1 Billion HP Glitch While Surpassing 3 Million Copies Sold in Its First Week
Slay the Spire 2 has wrapped up its first week, and what a ride it’s been! This deckbuilding roguelike has outperformed the launch of its predecessor by a significant margin, and it’s just getting started. Developer Mega Crit Games shared some exciting updates and sales achievements in their initial recap with the growing community on Steam.
Priced at $25, the game has already sold 3 million copies, raking in around $75 million before Steam takes its share. Players have embarked on over 250 million runs, averaging more than 80 runs per person. “Our team is thrilled to see such enthusiasm for what we’ve been crafting over the past five years—but this is just the beginning,” community manager Demi noted in the studio’s latest blog entry.
As the game is still in Early Access, fans are eager to learn about upcoming content and changes. While Mega Crit hasn’t revealed a detailed roadmap or timeline yet, they have hinted at several areas of focus for the coming weeks:
– A revamp of the badge/scoring system and a friends-only leaderboard filter
– Phobia accessibility mode
– Enhanced art and VFX
– Ongoing balance patches
– Steam Workshop support
– Quality of life features for multiplayer
– Official Twitch plugin integration
Players can also opt into a new public beta testing branch on Steam to experience upcoming changes before they hit the full release. This includes a balance patch that addresses a recent exploit allowing players to reach godlike HP levels. “Players, enemies, and pets can no longer have their HP increased above 999,999,999,” the development team stated in the latest patch notes.
Most of the other updates focus on bug fixes, particularly in the game’s entertaining yet sometimes chaotic multiplayer mode, where players battle alongside friends and queue card commands simultaneously. The team is also working on resolving various softlock issues and gradually adding card art that was missing at launch. Believe it or not, Slay the Spire 2 is still a work in progress, but it’s already shaping up to be an impressive experience.
