Sneak Peek at The Mighty Nein Season 2 Reveals Fjord’s Sinister Deal
The latest episodes of The Legend of Vox Machina have just dropped, but fans of Critical Role can look forward to more animated escapades soon. Season 2 of The Mighty Nein is on the way, and a sneak peek was unveiled during a panel at the Annecy Festival on June 24.
The one-minute clip features the party battling to defend the city of Nicodranas from a goblin invasion. They attempt to reason with the goblins, but one goblin retorts, “the only good goblin is a dead goblin,” poking fun at the classic murder hobo mentality often seen in Dungeons & Dragons, where adventurers tend to eliminate as many monsters as they can.

The ensuing skirmish allows each party member to shine. Jester (Laura Bailey) swings her lollipop spiritual weapon at the goblins, while Beauregard Lionett (Marisha Ray) showcases her skill in snatching arrows and returning them to her enemies. Fjord, the Warlock Paladin (Travis Willingham), feels the influence of his pact as a voice urges him to “consume” during the chaos. He grabs a goblin and drains its life force, leaving behind a desiccated shell as his eyes darken.
Jester expresses her frustration at not being able to fight more, using her cleric abilities to heal an injured child. She laments that the villagers should be more aware of their surroundings to prevent harm. The child’s name, Sam, pays tribute to The Mighty Nein’s executive producer and star Sam Riegel, and his design is inspired by a childhood photo of Riegel. Interestingly, he is voiced by Riegel’s own son.
While Prime Video hasn’t announced a release date for the new season of The Mighty Nein, it has confirmed that The Legend of Vox Machina will return for a fifth season. Riegel also hinted at discussions with Prime Video for additional series, potentially expanding beyond D&D-inspired fantasy into the realm of science fiction.
