Solo Leveling’s 2026 project will delve into a significant void in Jinwoo’s story.
Few properties have captured the gaming world quite like Solo Leveling. This Korean fantasy web novel by Chugong first made waves as a webtoon, racking up hundreds of millions of views, and later transitioned into an anime produced by A-1 Pictures. The anime’s two seasons propelled Solo Leveling into a global phenomenon, and a follow-up movie is already in the works. While fans eagerly await the next on-screen adventure of Sung Jinwoo, the upcoming video game, Solo Leveling: Karma, is set to launch soon.
At the Tokyo Game Show 2026, developer Netmarble showcased a demo of this exciting roguelite action RPG, complete with a cinematic and gameplay trailer. The focus for this title is on enhancing combat quality and refining the roguelite experience to keep gameplay fresh and engaging, as highlighted in an interview. However, long-time fans may be more intrigued by the game’s narrative, which aims to fill a significant gap in the original story’s lore.
In the conclusion of Solo Leveling, after triumphing in the final battle, protagonist Sung Jinwoo rewinds time to prevent the devastating losses of war, pursuing the Monarchs—his series’ antagonists—before they can wreak havoc on Earth. He spends 27 years battling them in the Dimensional Gap, while only two years pass on Earth. Upon his return, he enjoys a joyful reunion with family and friends, but the saga of “Sung Jinwoo’s 27-year war” remains largely unexplored.
Solo Leveling: Karma is set during this very period. The story trailer reveals that players will guide Sung Jinwoo through the Dimensional Gap as he continues his war against the Monarchs, offering fans a glimpse into this previously uncharted chapter of his life. The game’s narrative is closely supervised by Chugong, ensuring that it faithfully captures the worldbuilding and atmosphere of the original work.
The game will also introduce several original characters, with Chugong providing detailed feedback on their development and dialogue to ensure they align with Sung Jinwoo’s unique tone and the world’s somber rules. This collaboration aims to create a rich narrative that resonates with original fans. Additionally, the roguelite mechanics are designed to replicate the series’ signature “thrill of growth through leveling up.”
Solo Leveling: Karma will be available on Windows PC, as well as iOS and Android mobile devices. While it is slated for a 2026 release, a specific launch date has yet to be announced.
