Sony Unveils Stunning New PS5 Controller Designs
Consoles used to come in a variety of fun colors, often featuring transparent shells and other unique designs. Those days seem to be behind us, as we mostly see black and white consoles with limited accessory color options. That’s why I’m excited about Sony’s announcement of some eye-catching console covers and controllers for the PlayStation 5, set to drop in March.
On January 7, PlayStation revealed its Hyperpop Collection, showcasing three vibrant new PS5 console covers and controllers. You can snag a PS5 shell or DualSense gamepad in Techno Red, Remix Green, and Rhythm Blue. Despite the quirky names, these console shells look fantastic, featuring a gradient design that transitions from black at the top to a striking color at the bottom, especially when your PS5 is standing next to your TV.
What really gets me pumped are the three new controllers, which also flaunt that same black-to-color gradient pattern. They look absolutely stunning, and I’m eager to swap out my plain black DualSense controller for one of these.
Sony has priced the console covers at $75, while the Hyperpop DualSense controllers will retail for $85. That’s a $10 increase over the standard DualSense, which is a bit frustrating. However, that gradient design is so appealing that I’m willing to shell out the extra cash. I’ll just chalk it up to a cool tax.
Unfortunately, I’ll have to hold off a bit before I can grab that Remix Green DualSense controller. The Hyperpop Collection launches on March 12, 2026, with pre-orders starting on January 16, 2026, at select retailers and on PlayStation’s official store.
