Spider-Man 2 Receives Free Update Featuring New Day and Marvel Tōkon, But It’s a Little Buggy
Peter Parker is gearing up for a busy time as *Spider-Man: Brand New Day* swings into theaters this week, followed by his entry into the ring with other Marvel heroes in *Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls* next week. If you’re in the mood for some web-slinging action, you can dive back into Insomniac’s *Spider-Man 2*, which is set to receive a free update to celebrate the releases of both the movie and *Tōkon*.
This update introduces two new suits for Peter. One is inspired by his look in *Brand New Day*, while the other features a cel-shaded design reminiscent of his appearance in *Tōkon*.

v1.005.000 also adds support for Enhanced PSSR on PS5 Pro and Power Saver mode!
Insomniac has previously incorporated suits from *Spider-Man* films, so the arrival of the *Brand New Day* suit isn’t too surprising. However, it seems to have some glitches, with Peter’s hair poking through the mask in certain scenes, and the blue tones on the suit not quite matching up in some shots.
The *Tōkon* suit is amusing as it brings a cartoonish style into the mix, contrasting sharply with the game’s overall photorealistic aesthetic. It looks particularly silly during moments when Peter removes his mask, revealing a face that doesn’t quite match the Tom Holland vibe, all while wearing a suit that seems to leap straight from a comic book. The proportions are definitely a sight to behold.
This collaboration between Insomniac and *Tōkon* developer Arc System Works doesn’t stop here. Wolverine is also set to receive a costume based on his *Tōkon* appearance when it launches in September, and it too features some wild proportions. While I might pass on that one, I admire those who want to embrace the quirky, cel-shaded style.
