Spider-Man and The Odyssey to Share IMAX Screens Following Record-Breaking Weekend
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to hit select digital IMAX theaters across North America starting Thursday, August 6th, joining The Odyssey after both films dominated the box office during a record-breaking weekend.
This announcement comes as The Odyssey wraps up its exclusive three-weekend run in IMAX, paving the way for Spider-Man: Brand New Day to share the spotlight. Following its release on July 31st, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has already amassed an impressive $355 million, marking it as the second-largest box office debut in North America since Avengers: Endgame in 2019. Meanwhile, The Odyssey also had a strong showing, earning $51 million weeks after its premiere. Together with other hits like Toy Story 5, Moana, and Minions & Monsters, these films contributed to an unprecedented $430 million weekend at the box office.
The Odyssey will continue to screen in theaters within the global IMAX network, having already brought in $221 million at the global IMAX box office. This success has made July the highest-grossing month in IMAX history, with The Odyssey being the only film to achieve “multiple $40 million-plus weekends” in its global box office performance.
