Spotify Introduces Group Chats for Sharing Music with Friends

Spotify is enhancing its in-app messaging capabilities by introducing group chats. You can now invite up to 10 friends and family members to chat about your latest favorite song, podcast, or audiobook. This feature builds on the direct messaging that was rolled out last August, which lets you share what you’re currently listening to without leaving the app.

To create a group chat, simply navigate to the Messages section within the app and select “Create group” at the top of the screen. Keep in mind that you can only add people to these group chats if you’ve previously interacted with them through Spotify’s other features, like joining their Jam sessions, Collaborative Playlists, or Blends.

In addition to group chats, Spotify recently launched its Listening Activity feature on mobile, allowing you to see what your friends are currently enjoying. Messaging is available for both free and premium users.
