Stardew Valley 1.7 Update to Introduce New Farm Type and Exciting Additions
Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone has shared some exciting teasers for the upcoming 1.7 update of Stardew Valley, hinting at a new farm type, additional social features, and much more. In a recent interaction on X, Barone responded to a fan’s inquiry about the update, stating, “There will be some more character/social stuff; it’s also traditional to add a new farm type. Lots more, but I don’t want to reveal much yet.” This update was first mentioned back in August, with Barone indicating in September that it would take some time to complete.
Before the 1.7 update drops, players can look forward to a Switch 2 Edition of Stardew Valley, which will introduce mouse controls and support for four-player local co-op. This update is also set to include GameShare functionality and was expected to launch this fall. With only three days left in the fall season in the Northern Hemisphere, Barone mentioned on X that he would “announce something very soon” regarding the Switch 2 version.
The previous major update, Stardew Valley 1.6, released in early 2024, brought new features like the Meadowsland Farm, fishing festivals, and carrot crops. Meanwhile, Barone is also working on another project, Haunted Chocolatier. Stardew Valley has proven to be a massive hit, ranking among the most-downloaded games on the App Store for 2025.
