Stardew Valley Developer Sets the Record Straight on Haunted Chocolatier Myths
Haunted Chocolatier is the latest project from the mind behind Stardew Valley, one of the most beloved cozy RPGs out there. Naturally, fans are eager for updates on this upcoming title, and the anticipation has sparked a flurry of speculation. To address the buzz, developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone recently took to the game’s website to clarify some misconceptions in a new blog post.
“Hey everyone, good news: I’ve been very productive lately on Haunted Chocolatier,” he shared this week. “Yep, it’s taking a while to finish the game. That’s okay. I know, I know, I shouldn’t have announced the game so early. But I had my reasons.” He then went on to debunk several popular myths circulating among fans and provided clarity on the development of Haunted Chocolatier.
Barone emphasized that even if he were to abandon this new project, it would be unrealistic to think it could be integrated into Stardew Valley, as they were built using different engines. “You can’t just copy and paste Haunted Chocolatier into Stardew Valley,” he stated.
He reiterated that these are distinct games, even if they share a similar aesthetic. Additionally, he expressed a desire not to spoil any surprises in Haunted Chocolatier by teasing them in Stardew Valley.
The developer also noted that the ongoing updates for Stardew Valley are due to its continued popularity, not because of any issues with Haunted Chocolatier.
Previously, Barone mentioned he “hoped” to release Haunted Chocolatier within the next five years, which some interpreted as a sign it might take longer. He reaffirmed that there is no specific release date; the game will be ready when it’s ready, just like all great things that are worth the wait.
Well, that clears things up! The Haunted Chocolatier subreddit can take a breather until the game launches, or better yet, just keep enjoying Stardew Valley in the meantime.
