Stardew Valley Takes Center Stage at MagicCon Amsterdam 2026’s Secret Lair Unveiling

MagicCon Amsterdam 2026 is buzzing with excitement as Magic: The Gathering enthusiasts, players, and creators gather in the Dutch capital for a weekend packed with thrilling events and surprises. On Friday, the Secret Lair team took the stage to unveil a sneak peek at the upcoming drops for this beloved, and sometimes divisive, collector’s product.

Annie Sardelis, Ashley Creech, Hilary S. Thompson, and Steve Sunu showcased 13 new Secret Lair drops slated for 2026. Fans can look forward to a Hatsune Miku Commander deck, three drops inspired by Stardew Valley, a Marvelous Mathom drop themed around The Hobbit, four Marvel Super Heroes drops, a Lofi Girl drop, and three artist-centric drops.

The Hatsune Miku Commander deck, designed to evoke the atmosphere of a Miku concert, is set to release on August 10 at 9 a.m. PDT. The Stardew Valley drops will introduce a unique land card named Stardew Valley, which taps for colorless mana. Players can pay two colorless mana and tap it alongside an untapped creature to create a Food token, or for three mana, they can transfer control of a permanent to another player in exchange for drawing a card. One of these drops will feature artwork by Stardew Valley creator ConcernedApe, and all three will be available for purchase on July 27 at 9 a.m. PDT.

The Hobbit Secret Lair will include an Arcane Heist card with a special foil silver ink treatment that mimics Bilbo’s invisibility with The One Ring. It will also feature a Stony Silence card illustrated by Jordan Speer, along with seven Food tokens representing the meals a Hobbit enjoys throughout the day. This drop is scheduled for August 17 at 9 a.m. PDT.

The first Marvel Super Heroes drop, titled Earth’s Mightiest Pets, will highlight some of the most iconic animals from the Marvel Universe, including Jeff the shark. A romance-themed drop will showcase beloved Marvel couples, featuring Thanos and Lady Death on the aptly matched Grave Pact card. Additionally, a Hulk drop will celebrate the Green Goliath’s extensive comic book legacy, illustrated by Marvel artists. Lastly, a Dan Hipp Secret Lair will spotlight the work of one of Marvel’s most distinctive artists.

One of the most surprising reveals was the Lofi Girl drop, which pays homage to the popular YouTube channel known for its relaxing study music. Artist Gene Luen Yang will also receive a dedicated Secret Lair drop, featuring cards and art inspired by Journey to the West. The artist-focused drops will continue with a Robin Eisenberg Secret Lair and an Ian Miller Secret Lair, with Miller, a long-time contributor to Magic, also providing flavor text for the cards.

All Marvel drops, the Lofi Girl drop, and the artist-focused drops will be available for purchase on August 26 at 9 a.m. PDT.

Additionally, art from an upcoming Masters of the Universe Secret Lair superdrop was revealed, showcasing illustrations from both the comics and the original TV series.

Despite some fans expressing concerns over the limited print runs of Secret Lair products, which can make them targets for scalpers, Wizards of the Coast appears open to experimenting with the format. Recent initiatives include the print-on-demand Global Fund for Women charity Secret Lair and the new Reality Fracture Secret Lair bundle, set to be sold in WPN shops.
