Stardew Valley’s creator hints at an upcoming announcement for the Switch 2 version, apologizing for the delay.
Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, the mastermind behind Stardew Valley, has teased that updates regarding the anticipated Switch 2 edition of the beloved farming sim are on the horizon. This version was first revealed during the September 2025 Nintendo Direct, with an initial launch window set for fall 2025.
Since its debut on PC, Stardew Valley has enjoyed immense popularity, leading to its release on virtually every platform, including Linux and PlayStation Vita. Given its success, a version for Nintendo’s latest console seemed like a natural progression, but the expected timeline has since passed without any news.
In a recent Twitter update about Stardew Valley’s 1.7 patch, Barone responded to a fan’s inquiry regarding the Switch 2 edition. The fan expressed excitement, asking, “Any update on the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition perchance? Super looking forward to its release.”
While Barone didn’t provide specifics about the delay, he assured fans that information would be forthcoming. “I’ll announce something very soon, sorry about the long wait,” he stated. Known for his cautious approach to release dates, Barone also mentioned that the 1.7 update currently has “no release date, no estimate. But it’s happening.”
In addition to Stardew Valley, Barone is also developing a brand-new game titled Haunted Chocolatier. Development is reportedly progressing well, but true to his style, no release window has been disclosed.
Barone’s collaboration with the Infinity Nikki team has been described as “truly an honor,” highlighting his thoughtful approach throughout the crossover process.
