Starfield Set to Debut on PS5 Next Month

Bethesda has officially put an end to the speculation that’s been swirling for months. The highly anticipated open-world space RPG, Starfield, is set to launch on PlayStation 5 this April.

In a recent deep dive into the upcoming major free update and the next paid story DLC for Starfield, Bethesda wrapped up the presentation with an exciting announcement. Nearly three years post-launch, following numerous updates and a significant story expansion, Starfield will finally land on Sony’s console on April 7.

Players can already pre-order Starfield on the PlayStation Store for $50. The listing confirms that this version will be PS5 Pro Enhanced, similar to other Bethesda titles on the platform.

When Starfield debuts on PS5 next month, it will coincide with a substantial update for the game. The Free Lanes update, while not a complete overhaul, promises to revamp space travel and introduce a host of quality-of-life improvements that veteran players will surely appreciate. Additionally, on the same day, Bethesda will release Terran Armada, the next major story expansion, which will introduce a formidable new army intent on galactic domination, complete with battalions of robotic soldiers.

Starfield joins the ranks of other titles from Xbox-owned studios making their way to PS5. As the company embraces a multiplatform strategy, many franchises, including The Elder Scrolls, Gears of War, Fallout, Halo, and Forza, have either already transitioned or are set to transition to Sony’s console. This trend is expected to continue, even with the recent leadership changes at Xbox, including the departure of longtime head Phil Spencer.
