Starfield’s Upcoming DLC Delayed Due to GTA 6 Setback

It’s a bit quiet in the cosmos for Starfield players eager for news on the next big update. Bethesda’s space adventure is set to receive a new story DLC, but the timing remains uncertain. Recent reports suggest that the delay of Grand Theft Auto 6 influenced Bethesda’s choice to postpone Starfield’s second DLC to the first half of 2026. Sources indicate that Bethesda felt more at ease with this decision since Microsoft already has a packed holiday schedule for 2025.

Interestingly, it seems Bethesda has been showcasing the upcoming update and DLC behind closed doors to a select group of players. Among the rumored enhancements is a complete overhaul of the game’s space flight mechanics, aiming to transform travel into a more immersive experience rather than just a series of loading screens. Other improvements to space exploration are also expected, and the Creation Engine is said to be receiving significant technical upgrades that will benefit future titles.

However, a separate report has tempered expectations regarding the scale of these changes, advising fans not to anticipate a “Cyberpunk 2.0-scale update.” Until the embargo from the showcase is lifted, more specifics are likely to remain under wraps. Former Bethesda developer Bruce Nesmith has expressed that while he enjoys Starfield, he feels it doesn’t quite measure up to the Fallout and Elder Scrolls franchises. There are also whispers about potential releases for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2, but Bethesda has not yet confirmed these platforms for Starfield.
