Stellar Blade 2 Promises the Same Intensity and Edge as Its Predecessor
Shift Up unveiled Stellar Blade: Blood Rain during the Summer Game Fest, marking the continuation of the story from the 2024 action title, Stellar Blade.
According to the official description, Blood Rain will “continue the story beyond the events of the first game,” introducing a new protagonist named Evie. (A nod to the original game’s main character, Eve.) The trailer showcases Evie navigating a bustling city just before a transformation occurs, turning someone into a naytiba, the terrifying monsters that Eve faced in the first installment.
The gameplay in Stellar Blade: Blood Rain appears just as action-packed, with Evie taking on several naytibas. The trailer also maintains the same provocative flair as its predecessor, featuring a few cheeky shots. Some things never change.
Blood Rain was confirmed to be in development last summer. While an investor report from Shift Up suggested a potential release in 2026, the trailer did not specify a launch date. Notably, Shift Up will self-publish Blood Rain, a shift from the first game’s release under Sony Interactive Entertainment. Initially a PlayStation 5 exclusive, the first game was later ported to Windows PC. There’s a possibility that Blood Rain could be a multiplatform release, although no platforms have been officially announced yet.
The original game sold over 6 million copies and garnered a positive reception from critics. Our review described Stellar Blade as “an impressive console debut that suggests a very promising future for Shift Up.”
Developer Shift Up will self-publish its next game.
