Stephen King lauds the latest Carrie miniseries.
Amazon’s upcoming adaptation of the classic horror novel *Carrie* from 1974 is generating buzz even before its release, thanks to a notable endorsement from none other than Stephen King. The iconic author, who launched his career with *Carrie*, has shared his enthusiastic first impressions of this new series, adding to the excitement among fans.
In a post on Threads, King described the series as “brilliant,” highlighting its commentary on social media as “shocking and true.” Directed by Mike Flanagan, this adaptation modernizes the tale by incorporating elements like smartphones and cyberbullying. While the core character and plot remain intact, the integration of contemporary technology is set to add a fresh perspective to the well-known story.
Summer H. Howell takes on the role of Carrie, supported by a talented cast that includes Samantha Sloyan as Margaret White, Siena Agudong as Sue Snell, Amber Midthunder as Miss Desjardin, Alison Thornton as Chris Hargensen, Joel Oulette as Tommy Ross, Josie Totah as Tina, Arthur Conti as Billy, Thalia Dudek as Emaline, and Matthew Lillard as Principal Grayle. The series will also feature guest appearances from Michael Trucco, Crystal Balint, Kate Siegel, Rahul Kohli, Tim Bagley, and Heather Graham.
Fans won’t have to wait long to see if Flanagan’s vision for *Carrie* lives up to King’s praise. The eight-episode miniseries is set to stream on October 7, with all episodes dropping simultaneously, allowing viewers to binge on the horror. Flanagan has established himself as a master of horror with acclaimed series like *The Haunting of Hill House* and *Midnight Mass*.
He has previously adapted several of King’s works, including *Gerald’s Game* in 2017, *Doctor Sleep* in 2019, and is set to collaborate with King again on a new adaptation of the author’s 1980 story, *The Mist*.
