Street Fighter Pro Player Released from ICE Detention and Returning Home

Just under a month after his detention by ICE, Street Fighter pro Ludovic Mbock has been granted a low bond following a recent hearing.

His friends and family shared the positive update on the GoFundMe page set up for his legal expenses, announcing that he will soon return home to Maryland ahead of a follow-up hearing in May. The team feels optimistic, buoyed by the strong support from the community and a judge who appeared to be touched by the turnout in favor of Mbock’s release.

Ludovic has been granted a very low bond!

A huge thank you to all the supporters. We had around 20 people in the courtroom and over 20 more showing support online. The judge was clearly moved, and everything he said favored Ludovic.

We couldn’t have achieved this without you! We’ll provide updates once he’s back home.

Following the announcement, messages of support have flooded social media platforms like X and Bluesky.

Mbock’s GoFundMe has become a central source for updates on his case, raising over $102,000 to assist with his legal fees and representation. Known in the Street Fighter community as a top Chun-Li player, many in the fighting game scene shared stories of his influence when news of his detention surfaced, helping to raise awareness and promote fundraising efforts.
