Subnautica 2 Appears to Have Leaked Just Days Ahead of Its Release
It’s only Tuesday, and we’re already seeing a wave of major game leaks ahead of their official launches, with titles like Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight and Forza Horizon 6 making headlines. Now, it seems we can add another big name to the mix: reports are surfacing that Unknown Worlds’ Subnautica 2 has leaked online just two days before its early-access debut on May 14.
This year has been quite a rollercoaster for Subnautica fans, as Unknown Worlds has been embroiled in a legal battle with Krafton. The conflict arose after the developers were reportedly denied a $250 million payout due to delays in the game’s release back in July 2025. Fortunately, the courts ruled in favor of Unknown Worlds in March, leading to the announcement of the May 14 early access date shortly thereafter.
Given the lengthy legal struggles, it feels a bit unfair that Subnautica 2 has seemingly leaked just 48 hours before its launch on Steam and Xbox Series S/X. While I can’t confirm the authenticity of the leak for obvious reasons, it appears that files for a build of Subnautica 2 are already making the rounds online.

The specifics of how the game was leaked and who is behind it remain unclear, but indications suggest involvement from the Denuvo and Hypervisor cracking group known as DenuvOwO. A glance at their Discord server reveals that several users were aware of a leaked build surfacing last night, along with some never-before-seen images of Subnautica 2, which those sharing them claim come from the pirated version.
With Playground Games confirming that the leak of Forza Horizon 6 was “not the result of a pre-load issue,” it’s possible that the pre-load files for Subnautica 2 going live on Steam yesterday are unrelated to the leak. If that’s the case, it will be intriguing to uncover the origins of these leaks and what’s driving them in the future.
