After adding Yoshi and Mouser to its already impressive lineup, it seems The Super Mario Galaxy Movie may feature even more unexpected Nintendo cameos, as fans speculate about who else might appear in the latest teaser trailer.
On February 17, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie dropped a 30-second teaser on Twitter, offering another glimpse of the highly anticipated sequel. In one frame, a new character can be seen next to Yoshi, sporting a khaki green jacket with white sleeves and a belt. “Is that Fox?” one fan wondered. Check out the clip below.

While Fox isn’t technically part of the Mario universe, he is a beloved Nintendo character from the Star Fox series, both of which appear in the Smash Bros games. With his auburn fur and khaki jacket, it’s easy to see why fans are speculating that he might be the character in the new trailer. However, it could also be someone else in a similar space outfit. Check out a close-up of what fans think is Fox below.

If Fox does make an appearance in the movie, it wouldn’t be his first crossover into the Super Mario universe, as he has made several cameos and appears as a trophy in various games. However, not everyone is convinced. “How are people seeing Fox? I’m so confused, it looks like a bunch of junk,” one fan commented, while another added, “I’m pretty sure this is just space suit Luigi.”
The movie already boasts a star-studded cast, with Chris Pratt reprising his role as Mario, alongside Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach. The first Super Mario Galaxy teaser also introduced Rosalina and Bowser Jr., voiced by Brie Larson and Benny Safdie, respectively. Plus, the full-length Super Mario Galaxy Movie trailer gave us our first look at Yoshi.
It sounds like even more characters are on the way, as Pratt mentioned, “There are a couple more that are not in the trailer that people should be excited to see.” Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, with a script by Matthew Fogel, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is set to hit theaters on April 1, 2026.
