“Surprise! Baldur’s Gate 3 Gets a Fresh Update 10 Months After ‘Final’ Patch 8, Bringing New Fixes”

Even though the “final” Patch 8 for Baldur’s Gate 3 has been out for nearly a year, Larian Studios isn’t quite ready to wrap things up for this beloved Dungeons & Dragons RPG. Thankfully, the developers are still addressing issues that players have pointed out.

Larian has a lot on its plate with Divinity and the mysterious project codenamed Excalibur, but they’re not done fine-tuning Baldur’s Gate 3. Recently, they humorously announced a new update that, while minor, tackles some lingering “technical problems” in the game.

You might have thought the updates were over, but a few crashes and glitches were still lurking. If you were having trouble loading saves or moving from Act 2 to Act 3, those corrupted saves should now be resolved!

The announcement notes, “As it turns out, a few crashes and technical issues were still knocking about, so if you were getting stuck while loading saves, or trying to progress from Act 2 into Act 3, your corrupted saves should now be fixed!” The latest version of Baldur’s Gate 3 is listed for all platforms, with Xbox Series X|S and PS5 at 4.1.1.7143914 and PC at 4.1.1.7151330.

That’s a lot of version numbers, but it reflects the dedication Larian has put into this RPG, from major Patch 8 updates to smaller hotfixes. Judging by community feedback, it seems the developers still have work ahead of them, with requests ranging from fixes for Wyll’s banter to addressing the anisotropic bug on PC.

There’s also a lot of hope in the comments. One fan wonders, “So you are telling me that Gortash romance is still possible?” While that may be a long shot, it’s always fun to dream!
