It’s been a solid weekend at the box office, particularly for the new comedy-horror film Send Help, which continues to exceed expectations despite initial plans for a direct-to-streaming release.
Send Help experienced a remarkably low 0.8% drop in box office revenue during its third weekend, projecting around $9 million. This brings its total to $50 million in the US and $74 million globally since its January 30 release, a solid performance considering its $40 million budget.
Rachel McAdams stars as the overlooked employee Linda, while Dylan O’Brien plays her antagonistic CEO Bradley, as they struggle for survival after their plane crashes on a deserted island.
This marks Sam Raimi’s return to directing since his 2022 work on the MCU film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights has also made a splash, debuting at the top of the box office with $82 million worldwide after its February 13 release, despite mixed reviews (currently holding a 61% score on Rotten Tomatoes from 244 reviews).
Inspired by Emily Brontë’s classic Gothic novel, the film stars Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie as the ill-fated lovers Heathcliff and Cathy.
