Sydney Sweeney’s 116-minute R-rated thriller becomes a major hit on HBO Max.

Sydney Sweeney has been busy carving out a diverse and impressive career in Hollywood over the past few years.

While her role as Cassie Howard in *Euphoria* catapulted her into the spotlight, Sweeney has shown her versatility by taking on a range of genres and characters. In 2025, she portrayed a champion boxer in *Christy*, a live-in maid uncovering dark secrets in *The Housemaid*, and a daughter caught in a perilous family situation in *Echo Valley*.

Sweeney also took on dual roles as both producer and actor in the 2024 film *Immaculate*, where she plays a young American nun who stumbles upon something horrifying in a secluded Italian convent.

As she continues to build her impressive portfolio, one of her earlier thrillers has unexpectedly gained traction on streaming platforms.

*The Voyeurs*, a 2021 erotic thriller featuring Sweeney, is experiencing a resurgence on HBO Max, climbing to No. 4 on the platform’s global movie chart, according to FlixPatrol. Originally released on Prime Video in September 2021, the film is now finding a new audience nearly five years later.

The story follows Pippa (Sweeney) and Thomas (Justice Smith), a young couple who move into their dream apartment in Montreal. They soon discover that their windows provide a clear view into the apartment across the street, allowing them to observe the intimate lives of their neighbors.

Their neighbors, Seb (Ben Hardy), a successful photographer, and Julia (Natasha Liu Bordizzo), initially become subjects of mere curiosity for Pippa and Thomas. However, Pippa’s fascination deepens, and when she suspects Seb of infidelity, her voyeurism escalates into a dangerous obsession that pulls her into their lives.

*The Voyeurs* evolves into a twist-laden erotic thriller exploring themes of obsession, temptation, and the perils of making assumptions about those around you.

Upon its release, the film received mixed reviews, currently holding a 45% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Nonetheless, Sweeney’s performance garnered some acclaim, and the film has gained a reputation for its bold narrative twists.

While Sweeney doesn’t have a new film set to release immediately, her upcoming projects are anything but quiet. She will reprise her role as Millie in *The Housemaid’s Secret*, the sequel to *The Housemaid*, slated for December 17, 2027.

In the meantime, Sweeney is involved in several other projects at various stages of development. She stars alongside Noah Centineo in Netflix and Legendary’s live-action *Gundam* movie and is set to portray Undine Spragg in an adaptation of Edith Wharton’s *The Custom of the Country*. Additionally, she will play Hollywood icon Kim Novak opposite David Jonsson as Sammy Davis Jr. in *Scandalous!*, the feature directorial debut of her *Euphoria* co-star Colman Domingo.

While fans may have to wait a bit for her next film, they are clearly not sitting idle; instead, they are turning one of her earlier thrillers into a streaming sensation.
