Tesla’s Sales Surge 25% in Q2
Tesla has just unveiled its production and delivery figures for the second quarter, indicating a rebound after a challenging sales year in 2025. The automaker reported a total production of 451,758 vehicles from April to June, which includes 442,936 Model 3 and Model Y units, along with 8,822 other vehicles like the Cybertruck and Tesla Semi. Notably, the Model S and X were discontinued earlier this year. This marks roughly a 10 percent increase compared to the same quarter in 2025, when production stood at 410,244 vehicles.
In terms of deliveries, Tesla announced a total of 480,126 vehicles, comprising 467,762 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles and 12,364 other models. This represents about a 25 percent increase from the second quarter of 2025, which saw 384,122 vehicles delivered. For a direct-to-consumer brand like Tesla, these delivery numbers serve as a key indicator of sales performance.
Last quarter, Tesla reported a 6 percent year-over-year increase in sales, while Wall Street analysts had anticipated sales figures between 400,000 and 420,000 vehicles for this quarter.
However, this report arrives amid ongoing scrutiny regarding the safety of Tesla’s partially automated driving technology. Recently, a tragic incident occurred when a Tesla driver using Full Self-Driving crashed into a home, resulting in a fatality. Tesla attributed the incident to driver error, but it has led to an investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board. Additionally, reports surfaced that Tesla discreetly settled a lawsuit related to another fatal crash involving its FSD system.
On another front, Tesla’s robotaxi service is currently operating at a much smaller scale than initially expected by Elon Musk. The service is limited to a fleet of about 60 to 70 Model Y vehicles, which are functioning within a geofenced area across Austin, Houston, and Dallas.
