The Batman Part II Pushed Back to February 2028

Warner Bros has once again pushed back the release of The Batman Part II, directed by Matt Reeves and featuring Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight. Initially slated for 2025, then moved to 2026, and later to 2027, the film is now set to hit theaters in 2028—maybe.

On July 15, it was reported that WB made some adjustments to its upcoming movie schedule. J.J. Abrams’ sci-fi project, The Great Beyond, starring Glen Powell and Jenna Ortega, has been shifted from November to October 1, 2027, which was originally the release date for The Batman Part II. Consequently, the sequel has been rescheduled for February 18, 2028. This timing places it right around the four-day Presidents’ Day weekend, potentially boosting its box office performance.

As noted, production on The Batman Part II faced delays, so this extended timeline will provide Reeves with additional time for post-production. While it’s great for Reeves and should help ensure the film meets expectations, the wait has certainly been lengthy.

The Batman premiered in theaters in 2022. If The Batman Part II doesn’t face further delays, its February 2028 release will mark nearly six years since the first film. In the realm of superhero and franchise films, that’s quite a stretch. By the time the sequel arrives, it will have been almost a decade since WB announced Pattinson as Batman. He was around 32 when he took on the role, and he’ll be nearly 42 when the sequel debuts.

Not to be harsh, but come on… it’s Batman. It shouldn’t take this long to reunite the team, write a script, and film another Batman movie. But I suppose when crafting a high-profile superhero film, taking your time is part of the process.

The Batman Part II is set to release in theaters on February 18, 2028. Maybe. Probably. Hopefully. We’ll see. Place your bets.
