The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth Hits New Popularity Milestones on Steam in 2023

2014’s *The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth*, a remake of the original 2011 roguelike RPG action shooter, has surged in popularity on Steam, recently breaking player count records and outpacing titles like *Warframe*, *GTA V*, and *Delta Force*. This spike in interest can be attributed to an incredible deal.

*The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth* is among the many games available for just a few bucks during the ongoing Steam Summer Sale, which kicked off on June 25 and runs until July 9. While many titles see a slight increase in player numbers during Valve’s annual sale, *Rebirth* is experiencing a remarkable surge. The game is currently discounted from $15 to just $1.50, and if you want the complete experience, the bundle that includes all its DLC is available for only $5, down from $50.

This fantastic offer has drawn in a wave of new players, pushing *The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth* to over 156,000 concurrent users on Steam in the last 24 hours. This figure surpasses the previous peak of over 153,000 players just a few days earlier on July 5, according to SteamDB. That record had already broken the earlier high of 130,000 set on June 29, which itself had topped the previous mark of 109,000 from June 27.

To put *The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth*’s recent popularity into perspective, prior to this Summer Sale frenzy, the game’s highest concurrent player counts were around 70,000 in 2021 and approximately 69,000 at its launch in 2014. Clearly, the game is experiencing unprecedented growth right now.

While the steep discount is a major factor in this success, the impact of *Mewgenics*, released earlier this year, also plays a significant role. Co-created by Tyler Glaiel and *Isaac* developer Edmund McMillen, *Mewgenics* attracted over 115,000 players on Steam in February. It’s likely that many fans of *Mewgenics* are now checking out *The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth* due to the enticing summer sale. With the sale running until Thursday, it’s quite possible that *Rebirth* could set yet another concurrent user record on Steam.
