The Bizarre Cheeto Ingredients Video Everyone Can’t Stop Discussing

This morning, I woke up, checked my phone, and stumbled upon a video of a woman pouring the ingredients of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos into a tall glass while making exaggerated expressions for the camera. At first, I didn’t think much of it, but by the time I finished breakfast, my entire timeline was buzzing about it.

On June 15, a user shared the video on BlueSky, and it quickly went viral as people poked fun at how absurd it was. Jokes started flying about the bizarre nature of the video, with many pointing out that breaking down any food into its basic components would likely look strange and unappetizing. After all, none of us are munching on Cheetos under the impression that they’re a health food.

Personally, I can’t help but wonder what that concoction of Cheeto remnants would taste like if I mixed it all together and took a sip. It’s like a forbidden, ultra-processed milkshake—a bizarre blend of food science swirling around in my mouth. It’s a gross thought, yet oddly fascinating. So much to think about.

While the user who shared the video has gained a lot of traction on social media, they didn’t create it. The video comes from a popular content creator known as Science Snitch.

Science Snitch, which operates on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, appears to be run by the woman featured in the Cheeto video. The channel describes itself as an “investigative food and consumer product content brand” that conducts “research” into “what’s actually inside” various “everyday products.” In reality, it seems she simply looks at the ingredient list on the back of a product, estimates the proportions of each ingredient, and pours them into a tube that resembles a glass beaker while making silly faces at the camera.

It’s crucial to note that she’s likely just guessing. Unless she somehow obtained the secret recipe for Cheetos, which is not publicly available, she’s relying solely on the ingredient list and their order—determined by the quantity of each ingredient—to figure out how much of each to add to her tube.

Science Snitch has been producing this type of content since March and has had a few viral moments, but the Cheetos video seems to be gaining more attention than her previous efforts. While it’s great for her, it’s a bit concerning for the wider world. This kind of quirky, pseudoscientific viral content is entertaining, but it can also lead people down strange paths that might make them question things like vaccines or consider drinking raw milk. So, feel free to laugh at the ridiculous Cheetos video, but let’s not take it too seriously.
