Nintendo has revealed our first official look at the upcoming Resident Evil amiibo figures. During the Partner Direct Showcase on February 5, 2026, we got to see images of the two figures based on Grace and Leon from the upcoming Resident Evil 9 Requiem, set to launch later this month.

The Switch 2 accessories are expected to drop in “Summer 2026,” though no specific date was mentioned. What we do know is that tapping these figures on your handheld will unlock in-game skins for your weapons in Requiem, including a handgun skin for Leon. I was hoping for some fun costume unlocks instead—if we can get Mad Max Chris, why not Mad Max Leon?

These amiibo were first announced last October alongside the Resident Evil Requiem Switch 2 Pro controller, but this was our first look at them in all their quirky, NFC-integrated glory. Since they’re based on human characters, they do have a unique appearance. Realistic faces and poses can sometimes lose detail in a 4-inch figure, as anyone with the Fire Emblem Ike amiibo can attest.

Leon always looks like he’s been through a lot in the Resident Evil series, but the hair mold on the amiibo makes it seem like he’s been hanging out in the Raccoon City sewers for too long. The detail on his outfit is impressive, showcasing the folds in his black leather jacket, and there’s even a subtle shine on the axe he’s holding.

In my opinion, the Leon amiibo is the standout of the two, as he stands perfectly on the gold base without any unsightly transparent supports. Grace doesn’t have the same luxury, but at least her base isn’t the bright yellow seen on the first wave of Smash Bros amiibo. She looks just like her in-game counterpart, complete with her brown jacket, and I really appreciate the mid-step pose that’s been crafted for this release.

As for the unlocks, Capcom and Nintendo haven’t provided much detail. While we know tapping either amiibo unlocks weapon skins, the exact number of skins available remains a mystery. We did catch a glimpse of some gameplay during the Partner Direct Showcase, showcasing a bright blue neon skin that really pops against the grim backdrop of Requiem.

Pre-orders for these amiibo haven’t been announced yet, but they typically appear within hours at official Nintendo stores and other retailers. As soon as they do, I’ll update my amiibo page for 2026 to help you keep your collection complete.
