The final creation from the iconic artist of Dishonored is an intriguing Soulslike set in the Wild West.

Developer Eschatology Entertainment has unveiled Guns of Eschaton, a Soulslike first-person shooter set in a supernatural rendition of the Wild West. The announcement was accompanied by an impressive reveal trailer that showcases the game’s gothic cowboy atmosphere. The visual style was crafted by Viktor Antonov, renowned for his work on iconic titles, who sadly passed away in 2025.

Described as “the world’s first Soulslike FPS,” Guns of Eschaton merges supernatural horror with Western themes. Players will step into the boots of a lone gunslinger navigating a desolate landscape, taking down foes that cross his path. Uniquely, this gunslinger boasts six arms to aid him in traversing the apocalyptic wasteland. The official game synopsis reads:

You are a man who has lost almost everything, trying to return home before the last scraps are taken from him. The road ahead runs across the Old South of America – now transformed into a haunted frontier of ruined settlements, mythic roads, impossible machines, monstrous factions, and historical figures caught between legend and damnation. This is not only the end of America. It is the beginning of something far worse.

In a statement, Eschatology studio head Fuad Kuliev expressed excitement about revealing Guns of Eschaton, the final project influenced by Antonov’s remarkable vision. While Antonov is best known for his roles in shaping the art of major titles, he also contributed to games like Fallout 4, Prey, and DOOM, with his influence evident in the trailer for Guns of Eschaton. Kuliev noted, “From the earliest stages of development, I had the privilege of shaping this world together with Viktor: where ideas, themes, and concepts evolved through his talent into the world players will see today.”

Gameplay promises a thrilling blend of the fast-paced mechanics found in DOOM and the challenging grind characteristic of the Dark Souls series. The game’s Steam page highlights its Soulslike nature, even with the protagonist wielding firearms instead of traditional melee weapons. Players can expect over 20 unique weapons designed around the feel, limitations, and brutality of 19th-century firearms. Similar to other Souls-inspired games, Guns of Eschaton will encourage players to explore diverse playstyles through active and passive abilities, custom bullets, armor, consumables, and more.

Combat will heavily feature bullet variety, with enemies possessing specific weaknesses for players to exploit. One particularly intriguing enemy showcased in the trailer resembles a sinister train, and as established in gaming history, battling a train is always an exciting encounter. Guns of Eschaton will offer both solo and co-op gameplay options.

The game is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PC, though a release date has yet to be announced.
