The highly anticipated anime film of 2027 might have just revealed its unofficial release date.

As we look ahead to 2027, anime enthusiasts are gearing up for some major releases from their favorite franchises. At the forefront of anticipation is undoubtedly Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle 2, the follow-up to the highest-grossing anime film ever, though a specific release date is still under wraps. On the other hand, One Piece has confirmed that its next film, One Piece Film: God Valley, will hit theaters in the summer of 2027, marking its first direct connection to the ongoing manga and anime storyline.

Sharp-eyed fans have noticed a potential release date for a 2027 anime film that might be Infinity Castle 2. Movie listing sites indicate an unnamed Crunchyroll/Sony Pictures film is set for September 15, 2027. Given that Sony and Crunchyroll hold the global distribution and streaming rights for the Demon Slayer series, this has sparked speculation. Additionally, Sony is involved in the production committee through its subsidiary, Aniplex.

However, the listings for this unnamed film only credit Sony Pictures as the production company, omitting Aniplex. This could suggest that the film isn’t Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle 2, but since Aniplex is fully owned by Sony, it might just be a matter of how the information is presented.

Another possibility for the September 15 release is One Piece Film: God Valley, considering its summer 2027 launch. Yet, One Piece films are produced by Toei Animation, which isn’t mentioned in the listing. While Sony/Crunchyroll manages the distribution of One Piece films in North America, they do not handle it in France, the country referenced in the listing.

At this point, there’s not enough information to definitively identify the mysterious Sony/Crunchyroll film set for September 15. Fans should treat this as a mere hint and hold off on making any plans until official announcements are made. In the meantime, if you’re looking for a reason to revisit the series, the first film in the Infinity Castle trilogy has just become available on Hulu.
