The Individual Behind CBS News’ Downfall Has Unveiled Paramount Game Studios
David Ellison, the head of Paramount Skydance, is making significant moves at the company since taking the reins last year. His latest initiative involves merging the video game studios of Paramount and Skydance into a new entity called Paramount Games Studio.
On Friday, it was announced that Paramount Games Studio will be formed by combining Skydance’s two game studios with Paramount’s extensive library of intellectual properties.
Tony Driscoll, who currently oversees corporate strategy and development at Paramount, has been appointed as the president of the new studio. Amy Henning, known for her work on the Uncharted series, has been elevated to the role of creative director. She will continue to lead the development of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra and a previously announced Star Wars game, both of which are confirmed to be in progress.
In a trailer introducing the new studio, no footage of Rise of Hydra was included. The game was delayed in 2025, and a new release date has yet to be announced.
“This division launch marks a meaningful evolution in how we think about games – not as an extension of our business, but as a core pillar of our content strategy alongside film, television, and streaming,” Driscoll stated. “We are committed to creating exceptional games for every type of player, from casual to AAA, and building enduring experiences across our beloved Paramount IP and original worlds that deepen fan engagement and drive long-term growth.”
Paramount Games Studio is set to unveil its first major AAA title at the Summer Game Fest on June 5.
Currently, Paramount Skydance is also in the process of attempting to acquire Warner Bros., with Ellison reportedly indicating to President Trump that significant changes would be made to CNN if the deal is successful. Acquiring WB would provide Paramount Games Studio access to franchises like Mortal Kombat and Batman, furthering the trend of consolidating popular IP under a few major companies.
