The latest DLC trailer for The Witcher 3 signals the conclusion of an epic RPG journey.

After revealing a remastered version of the game, the developers of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt gave fans an exciting glimpse of the upcoming DLC during a showcase. Titled Songs of the Past, this expansion marks the final chapter for Geralt, wrapping up an incredible 11-year journey.

The new trailer showcased some of the legendary creatures Geralt will face, along with the fresh arsenal at his disposal. Among the new gear is a hookshot-like weapon that pays homage to the original game in the trilogy. To gear up for the DLC, both major expansions of the RPG are now available for free. The developers have indicated that Songs of the Past will be Geralt’s last adventure before he hands the reins over to Ciri, aiming to ensure he goes out with a memorable finale.

Set in a brand-new region filled with quests and monsters, the DLC promises to unveil a dark secret lurking beneath the surface, which Geralt will inevitably uncover. Unfortunately, a specific release date for Songs of the Past has yet to be announced.

Originally launched in 2015, The Witcher 3 set a new standard for RPGs with its immersive world and the rugged monster hunter, Geralt. Over the years, the open-world title has seen 16 pieces of DLC and two major expansions. Currently, The Witcher 3 offers enough content to keep players engaged for hundreds of hours, if not years, especially with the addition of mods. The last significant DLC, Blood and Wine, was released back in 2016. Although the game has been ported to newer platforms with next-gen enhancements, many fans believed that The Witcher 3, with its 65 million copies sold, had reached its conclusion.

In a surprising move in early 2026, the developers announced that, despite their ongoing work on The Witcher 4, they were also developing a new DLC for the acclaimed RPG. They have stated that Songs of the Past will be comparable in size to Blood and Wine, which offers dozens of hours of gameplay. While both projects are being developed simultaneously, fans have been cautioned not to expect this DLC to serve as a precursor to The Witcher 4. Until now, details about the project have been scarce, though it will introduce even more cards to the Gwent minigame.

We’ve caught glimpses of The Witcher 4 and its stunning Unreal Engine 5 graphics, but the Ciri-led sequel remains largely under wraps. The developers seem focused on delivering as much Witcher content as possible. In addition to the fifth and final Netflix adaptation of The Witcher, they aim to release an entire Witcher trilogy within a six-year timeframe. The sequel is anticipated to be the largest game the studio has ever created.

Since the 2015 launch of The Witcher 3, the studio has undergone significant changes, including key leadership departures and substantial growth. Fans are hopeful that both the DLC and the sequel will capture the essence that made The Witcher series so beloved.
