The latest Pokémon game launches on mobile today.

The latest Pokémon adventure is now at your fingertips, as Pokémon Champions has officially launched on Android and iOS. This mobile title follows in the footsteps of other popular Pokémon games, offering a free download with optional in-app purchases.

Pokémon Champions is a battle-centric spin-off reminiscent of the classic Pokémon Stadium titles. Unlike the recent mainline entry, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which introduced a real-time combat system, this game opts for a more traditional turn-based battle format.

Instead of capturing Pokémon in the wild, players will “recruit” them for their teams using in-game currency known as Victory Points. If you have favorites from previous games, you can also import Pokémon from Pokémon Home to join the fray. While the Pokémon universe boasts over 1,000 creatures, Pokémon Champions kicks off with just under 200 available at launch.

The game received mixed reviews upon its release on consoles earlier this year, with some fans appreciating certain features while others expressed frustration. It has been described as having an identity crisis, appealing differently to long-time players, newcomers, and those entrenched in the competitive scene.

Both mobile and console users can currently claim a Raichu along with its Mega Stones via the in-game mailbox, available until September 2. Additionally, a new battle pass has launched alongside a fresh ranked battle season that began on Wednesday.
