Artur Ganszyniec, the lead story designer for The Witcher, has completed a playthrough of the original CD Projekt Red RPG on YouTube.

While The Witcher series has skyrocketed in popularity, most discussions revolve around The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, leaving the original game largely overlooked. Admittedly, revisiting the original can be a challenge due to its dated mechanics and quirks, which is likely why a remake is on the way. However, Ganszyniec’s recent series might just inspire players to dive back into it now.

About five months ago, Ganszyniec launched “The Witcher with a designer’s commentary” on YouTube, resembling a DVD commentary track. This isn’t just a casual series; it consists of 26 videos, each lasting one to two hours, covering the entire game. In the first episode, he shares that it’s been “almost 20 years” since he last played it.

Last week, Ganszyniec wrapped up his journey through The Witcher, describing it as “a very satisfying half of the year.” Despite the series’ surprisingly low view count given the franchise’s current popularity, viewers have praised his insightful commentary, with one remarking, “It’s been amazing to follow your playthrough and to listen to your insightful commentary.” So, if you’re considering revisiting The Witcher before the remake drops but prefer to watch rather than play, this series could be just what you need.

In other news, CD Projekt Red has welcomed a new AI director to the team, who joins the studio behind The Witcher 4 after eight years of crafting memorable RPGs at BioWare.
