The Mummy 4 Revealed: Official Title Unveiled Ahead of Highly Anticipated Release
Get ready, because the iconic Mummy franchise is making its comeback exactly one year from now! Universal Pictures has officially announced the title for the upcoming installment.
Titled The Mummy: Book of the Dead, this sequel is set to hit theaters on October 15, 2027.
In this new chapter, fans can look forward to the return of Rachel Weisz as Evie Carnahan and Brendan Fraser as Rick O’Connell. Weisz previously skipped the third film, which saw Maria Bello stepping into Evie’s shoes. Recent set photos featuring a stylish Weisz suggest that Book of the Dead may be set in the late 1950s, while Fraser has also been spotted sporting a fresh look as O’Connell. With the title now revealed, one big question remains.
The first two films revolved around the mummy Imhotep and his relentless quest for resurrection. Given that he is brought back to life through the Book of the Dead, the subtitle hints that he will play a significant role in The Mummy: Book of the Dead.
Adding to the excitement, Oded Fehr is returning as Ardeth Bay, the leader of the Medjai, a group dedicated to ensuring Imhotep stays buried. If Bay is back, it suggests that someone might be attempting to resurrect Imhotep once more—perhaps Beni, who appeared to meet his end in the first film. Kevin J. O’Connor is reprising his role as Beni for Book of the Dead, raising the possibility that he might not be as dead as we thought and could be working with Imhotep again.
While Arnold Vosloo’s return as Imhotep hasn’t been officially confirmed, earlier this year, John Hannah (Jonathan Carnahan) hinted that Vosloo would be back. As we approach the release of The Mummy: Book of the Dead, more details and trailers will surely emerge. Until then, it might be time for a rewatch of the 1999 classic, The Mummy, for the umpteenth time.
Decades of anticipation lead to this momentous return!
