The Razr Ultra Remains the Most Stylish Phone on the Market
The 2026 Motorola Razr Ultra doesn’t bring a ton of new features to the table, but it does have some noteworthy updates. You’ll find a new main camera sensor, a slightly larger battery, and a price bump to $1,499 from last year’s $1,299. One thing that remains unchanged is its stunning design.
The wood-finish back panel makes a return, now complemented by a new suede-like Alcantara option in orient blue. For those who’ve been saying that “phones are boring now,” take a look at these devices. They’re anything but dull, boasting a premium feel and eye-catching aesthetics that are perfect for snapping photos.
The downside? The price increase comes with the same 512GB storage and 16GB RAM configuration that was $200 less last year. It still packs the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset from the previous model. The battery has been upgraded to a 5,000mAh silicon-carbon unit, up from 4,700mAh, and the main camera sensor has been enhanced to 50 megapixels, promising improved high dynamic range performance thanks to new LOFIC sensor technology. While these upgrades are nice, the price hike likely stems from ongoing memory shortages.
There are also some minor enhancements. The inner display can now reach up to 5,000 nits of brightness, compared to 4,500 nits on last year’s model. The outer screen is now protected by Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3, which offers better drop resistance than its predecessor.
In addition to the other Razr models, the Ultra introduces a couple of new camera features. When shooting video in camcorder mode with the device bent at a 90-degree angle, you can tilt the phone left and right to zoom in and out. This movement isn’t visible in the final video, as the device uses its gyro sensor and image stabilization to correct it during post-processing, keeping the horizon steady.
There’s also a feature called Frame Match, which is handy when you need to pass your phone to someone else for a photo. You take a reference shot with your desired framing, then step in front of the camera. The person you’re handing the phone to will see the overlay, helping them match the composition. While I’m usually too anxious to explain this to a stranger taking my family’s picture, it worked well enough during my testing.
The 2026 Razr Ultra will be available for preorder on May 14th, with a release date set for May 21st.
