The top mobile game in the Marvel universe is set to introduce its most sought-after feature.

After much anticipation from the community, Marvel Snap is set to introduce a Draft mode on August 24.

This limited-time game mode will significantly alter the usual gameplay mechanics of the collectible card game inspired by Marvel Comics. Players will kick off matches by selecting a starter set that includes three cards tailored to various deck archetypes such as destroy, ramp, move, or ongoing.

Following that, players will draft seven additional cards, which will feature adjusted cost or power stats specific to this mode, or include “augments” that provide extra abilities. To secure victory, players must win five rounds of Draft, gradually enhancing their deck with two more cards (and additional augments) as the game progresses.

Developer Sam Stoddard noted that the extensive gameplay changes necessary for Draft contributed to the delay in its development. This is also why it will launch as a limited-time mode rather than a permanent addition to the game.

“Snap has a much lower number of cards, and the decks are quite small, so the variance isn’t very high, and the synergy is quite strong. These factors posed challenges, which is why it took us a while to reach a point where we were satisfied with the offering,” Stoddard explained. “The limited-time aspect allows us to gather data and feedback. I personally enjoy the mode, but we need to stress test it with a larger audience.”

Despite potential issues that may arise, Draft mode is one of the most thrilling updates since the game’s launch in 2022. Nearly four years and several controversies later, Marvel Snap continues to boast a dedicated community, with new cards being introduced weekly. As a fan of both mobile games and Marvel, I’m excited to see this mode finally come to life.

Draft will be available on the Android, iOS, and Windows PC versions of Marvel Snap starting August 24. Regarding its future availability after this initial event, Stoddard mentioned that Second Dinner will analyze the data collected to determine when it might return, assuring players that it won’t be long before they can experience it again, as there are many ideas they want to explore.
