The top VR series is making its way to consoles at last.

The VR-exclusive Moss series is set to make its console debut this summer with Moss: The Forgotten Relic. This new title merges both Moss and Moss: Book 2 into a single, revamped experience designed for flat screens. Players can look forward to its release on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.

The series follows Quill, a white mouse embarking on a fantastical journey within the pages of a book. The original game launched in 2018 and garnered numerous award nominations at major gaming events. Its sequel, Moss: Book 2, released in 2022, also received high praise, winning the Best VR/AR Game award at that year’s ceremony. With Moss: The Forgotten Relic, players will finally have the chance to enjoy the series without the need for a VR headset.

This collection brings together the first two games and includes the Twilight Garden DLC from Moss. Several enhancements have been made to optimize the experience for consoles, including improved visuals and performance, along with a redesigned Smart Follow Camera. Additionally, the game will feature new cutscenes and an accessibility option that allows players to skip combat sequences.

This announcement follows a significant staff reduction at developer Polyarc, which reportedly cut two-thirds of its workforce after losing funding for one of its projects in 2025. Polyarc is among several VR studios that have faced layoffs or closures in the past year.

Moss: The Forgotten Relic is part of a growing trend where dedicated VR developers are transitioning to console gaming. For instance, Vertigo Games recently announced it is adapting its VR-exclusive remake of The 7th Guest into a full PC and console release, scheduled for June 4. This shift may indicate a broader change in the VR landscape as more developers explore traditional console platforms.

Moss: The Forgotten Relic will be available this summer on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
