The official Madoka Magica X account has revealed that *Walpurgisnacht: Rising* will be shown in IMAX, alongside standard cinema formats. This marks the first time a film from the series will be available in IMAX, enhancing the viewing experience for fans. According to the announcement, the IMAX screenings will coincide with the film’s regular release on August 28.

Over 60 theaters across Japan will feature IMAX showings. Fans can locate their nearest cinema through the official Madoka Magica website. Given the excitement surrounding IMAX tickets for other major releases, it’s wise to secure your ticket as soon as possible.

*Puella Magi Madoka Magica* originally debuted as a 12-episode anime from studio Shaft in 2011. Often regarded as the *Neon Genesis Evangelion* of magical girl anime, it follows a group of schoolgirls who enter contracts to gain powers and battle witches. Throughout the series, the protagonist Madoka Kaname and her friends uncover the dark truth behind their contracts, realizing they are essentially deals with the devil, leading to a cycle of despair that transforms them into the very witches they seek to defeat.

The franchise began releasing films in 2012, with the first two, *Beginnings* and *Eternal*, primarily retelling the original anime. The third film, *Rebellion*, introduced a new narrative. *Walpurgisnacht: Rising* was first hinted at in 2015 and officially announced in 2021. After several delays, it has finally secured its August release date. While it hasn’t been confirmed that this fourth film will conclude the series, trailers suggest it may serve as a finale—unless, of course, it pulls a last-minute twist reminiscent of *Rebellion*.

*Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Walpurgisnacht: Rising* is set to release on August 28 in Japan, with no current details on an international release.
