The upcoming Pokémon TCG Pocket expansion features Team Rocket.

The next expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket has been announced, and it’s called Team Rocket’s Ambition. Set to launch in just a few days, this expansion introduces fresh cards and an exciting new feature to the Pokémon mobile card game.

According to an official announcement, Team Rocket’s Ambition will drop on Aug. 26 at 6 p.m. PDT. This themed booster pack will showcase the infamous Pokémon and trainers from Team Rocket, featuring new artwork and cards that proudly display the team’s iconic R mark. Players can also look forward to covers and backgrounds featuring Giovanni and his Persian.

This expansion will kick off a series of new events, including Special Assignments where players can earn Shady Tickets by completing missions. These tickets can then be used to discover new in-game currency during the event period. This marks the first time such an event has been introduced in Pokémon TCG Pocket, potentially revitalizing the mobile experience. The Special Assignments will run from the launch of Team Rocket’s Ambition until Sept. 28.

Additionally, an Emblem event will take place until Sept. 9, allowing players to earn themed emblems for their profiles based on their battle victories against others. From Sept. 9 to Sept. 19, players can win special solo battles in the Lapras Drop event to earn B Series promo packs vol. 12. The Wonder Pick event, running from Sept. 18 to Sept. 28, will feature promo cards of Fennekin and Meowstic. There will also be missions that reward players with event shop tickets, which can be exchanged for promo cards in the Shop.

The Great Puzzle Challenge has also been teased as part of Team Rocket’s Ambition. By solving puzzles on a dedicated website during the campaign, players can earn serial codes to claim pack hourglasses in-game. More details will be shared as the expansion’s release date approaches.

Earlier this month, co-developer DeNA reported a significant 41% drop in player numbers for Pokémon TCG Pocket since last year. In response, they plan to implement new initiatives aimed at increasing player engagement and retention. The unique events featured in Team Rocket’s Ambition appear to be a key part of this strategy.
