The White House claims Truth Social is the leading social media platform globally.

The White House has declared that Truth Social, owned by Donald Trump, is the “most powerful and popular social media platform in the world.” This assertion, made by spokesperson Davis Ingle, stands in stark contrast to user statistics from leading social media platforms.

According to data from Search Engine Land, YouTube reigns as the most popular platform globally, boasting 2.65 billion monthly active users. Facebook follows closely with 2.39 billion users, while TikTok and Instagram have 2.21 billion and 1.99 billion users, respectively. Truth Social does not appear in the top 10 list, which includes Elon Musk’s X and Meta’s Threads at the lower end with 450 million and 223 million users, respectively. Even Pinterest surpasses these platforms with 579 million users worldwide.

Traffic for Truth Social seems to be on the decline. Reports indicate that, according to Similarweb, monthly visitors to the platform fell by 36 percent in July compared to the previous year. From January to July 2025, an average of 28 million users visited Truth Social each month, but this number dropped to 25 million during the first seven months of 2026. Recently, Truth Social introduced a $100,000 per month subscription for early access to posts from Trump and other notable figures, raising concerns about potential corruption.

Ingle highlighted Trump’s posting habits on Truth Social, which frequently feature AI-generated images, including one of Trump’s head on Hulk Hogan’s body and another depicting him striking a cut-out of Iran with a hammer while waving the American flag. He emphasized that Trump’s “authentic voice” is what drives the platform’s claimed popularity, stating it allows him to communicate directly with the American public and the world without media bias.
