The Witcher 3 Remastered Introduces Major Upgrades and a Fan-Favorite Feature on PS5 and Xbox
The first week of The Witcher 3 Remastered has been a mixed bag for fans. While the game introduced a host of free enhancements, it also came with some noticeable issues on both PC and console. Thankfully, CD Projekt Red has been proactive in addressing these concerns, rolling out a new patch that includes several fixes, notably the long-awaited option to disable bloom on consoles.
Patch 5.01 weighs in at about 5.5 GB for consoles and 8.5 GB for PC. This update is another step toward refining The Witcher 3 Remastered into the experience it aims to be. The standout feature is the ability for players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S to toggle the bloom effect, a visual setting that many PC players had already been turning off to reduce the game’s overly bright appearance.
Additionally, console players can now adjust Light Shafts and Depth of Field settings, giving them more control over their visual experience through the settings menu. The annoying bug that reset these custom settings on PS5 has also been resolved.
CDPR has tackled the audio issue on consoles as well. The patch notes confirm that the fix for voiceover audio becoming much quieter than other in-game sounds after navigating the pause menu is now live on consoles. This means no more straining to hear Geralt during NPC dialogues and cutscenes.
One player expressed gratitude, stating, “The dialogue audio fix on PS5 is a major fix. I no longer have to crank the sound system to 30 during dialogue then back to 15 during battle.” CDPR is actively gathering bug reports and player feedback, and it seems likely that more significant patches for the Remastered version are on the horizon as we approach next year’s Songs of the Past DLC expansion.
