The Witcher 3 Remastered Receives Major Updates Just a Day After Release

CD Projekt Red has finally launched the highly anticipated remaster of The Witcher 3 on September 29. This updated version of the iconic 2015 RPG enhances the graphics and revamps several systems, but players have encountered some hiccups since its release. To tackle these issues, CD Projekt Red rolled out two hotfixes in quick succession.

The first hotfix, patch 5.00b, is a minor update focused on resolving various graphical glitches. According to the official Witcher blog, this patch includes lighting tweaks, fixes a DLSS problem affecting Xbox Play Anywhere on PC, and aligns the console versions more closely with the PC experience. The studio also mentioned that they are actively working on a fix for specific PC-related issues.

Just a few hours later, patch 5.00c was released, targeting the PC versions available on Steam, GOG, the Epic Games Store, Battle.net, and Xbox Play Anywhere. This hotfix addresses two of the most frustrating bugs players have faced in The Witcher 3: Remastered. The first bug prevented saving or loading when the Documents folder path included special characters, while the second involved the voiceover audio being significantly quieter than other sounds after accessing the pause menu. CD Projekt Red confirmed that these issues have been resolved. Additionally, the studio’s social media director noted that a fix for the voice issue on consoles is in the works, though a timeline for that update has not been provided.

Following the release of The Witcher 3: Remastered, CD Projekt Red has an exciting roadmap ahead for the series. The first major addition is Songs of the Past, a new expansion set to arrive next year, co-developed with Fool’s Theory. This expansion will introduce players to a new region and is expected to be comparable in size to the previous Blood and Wine expansion.

Looking further ahead, the next main installment in the series, The Witcher 4, is currently in development and slated for release in 2028. One of the most thrilling aspects of this sequel is that it will feature Ciri as the main character, stepping into Geralt’s shoes. Meanwhile, Fool’s Theory is also working on a remake of the original Witcher, but that project is currently on hold as the focus shifts to Songs of the Past and The Witcher 4, leaving its release date uncertain.
