The Witcher 3 Remastered Update Introduces Long-Awaited Graphics Improvements
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered has been out for just under two weeks, and it’s already seen a series of hotfixes and patches. This is typical for an upgrade aimed at rewarding dedicated fans with an enhanced gaming experience. Patch 5.01, released on October 9, addressed various visual issues that players encountered, including graphics glitches on both PC and consoles, as well as optimization problems on PlayStation 5.
The remaster brought improvements across all facets of this beloved RPG. While the visual upgrades were clear, players noted that the environment appeared somewhat washed out. It turned out to be related to the bloom setting, a visual effect intended to enhance lighting. A comprehensive list of changes and fixes is available.
CD Projekt Red acted swiftly, with Update 5.01 making adjustments to bloom, ray tracing, path tracing, character lighting, and tone mapping.
For those who prefer to disable bloom entirely, there’s now an option in the settings. Players can also tweak light shafts and depth of field. These customization options were previously exclusive to PC but are now available on consoles as well. Thanks to the optimizations in this patch, performance has seen a boost, ensuring console players enjoy a visually enhanced experience in Witcher 3 Remastered. PC users benefited from fixes related to dynamic resolution scaling.
Patch 5.01 is available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. CD Projekt Red is also developing a separate version for the Nintendo Switch 2, which will impact a large number of fans, especially those who exploited a duplication loophole to obtain a free copy of the game.
Even with the update addressing several critical issues, the comments section on the patch notes was filled with players reporting bugs and requesting further changes. Given the scale of the game, it’s not surprising that fans still encounter annoying glitches years later. CD Projekt Red is likely to consider this feedback for future patches.
It’s a very long list.
