This compact ice cream maker is perfect for my cramped kitchen.

For the last few months, I’ve been resolutely bypassing the Ninja Creami at Costco, all while considering the air fryer, toaster oven, breadmaker, rice cooker, and stand mixer already competing for precious counter space. However, Nutribullet’s new Chill ice cream maker might just change my mind with its compact design. While the Creami takes up 17.44 by 8.58 inches, the Chill measures a mere 9.6 by 5.74 inches, making it much easier to fit on the kitchen counter and store away once my family loses interest in making our own frozen treats.

The Chill is now available for $199.99 from Nutribullet’s online store and other retailers, and it comes with two 16-ounce pint cups. You’ll need to gather all the ingredients for a process that involves mixing the ice cream base, pouring it into the pint cups to freeze for 24 hours, and then churning it to your preferred consistency.

Many countertop ice cream makers are essentially high-powered blenders designed to handle the demands of frozen ingredients without overheating. While pricier options like the Ninja Swirl offer soft serve dispensing, the Nutribullet Chill features five presets that utilize its dual-sided, dual-direction mixing blades to create ice cream, gelato, frozen yogurt, smoothies, or sorbets. I’m sure I won’t regret the impulse buy as I indulge in a bowl of homemade rocky road—at least until I open the cupboard and confront the chaotic mess that is our appliance shelf.
