This Fortnite Fan Game Will Leave You Speechless!

It’s been a couple of years since the Unreal Editor for Fortnite dropped, and aside from Steal a Brainrot, fan creations haven’t really made waves. That might be changing with the buzz around Animora. A brief trailer for this fan-made fantasy adventure is racking up millions of views, leaving many players astonished that it was crafted within Fortnite.

Animora resembles a blend of World of Warcraft and Genshin Impact. While we can’t predict if the final product will live up to those iconic titles, the fact that it draws comparisons to such beloved games is impressive in itself. Epic Games is currently promoting the map, claiming it is “built different.” Even Tim Sweeney, the CEO of Epic Games, seems to be taken aback by Animora.

One viral post on X, which has 2.6 million views, captures the excitement: “They’re making MMOs in Fortnite, wtf.” The trailer alone has pulled in 5.6 million views, and while many reactions express sheer amazement, others are puzzled by how closely Animora resembles Hoyoverse’s hit RPG, Genshin Impact. Some fans are even creating side-by-side comparison videos, sparking speculation about potential legal issues.

Creator Augartist has been transparent about the map’s inspirations and their use of an asset pack to achieve Animora’s aesthetic. The artwork, marketed as a ‘stylized medieval village,’ appears to be custom-made. While the map evokes Mondstadt, the starting area of Genshin Impact, Augartist insists they are crafting a distinct experience with its own progression system, loot, companions, and co-op features. One trailer showcasing Animora’s biomes also hints at card-based mechanics.

Despite the concerns over similarities to Genshin Impact, it’s interesting to note that the most popular Fortnite map right now is a direct copy of a major Roblox game. Genshin Impact itself faced criticism upon its reveal for allegedly mirroring The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Animora is slated for release sometime in January. However, with only a few days left in the month and the massive attention this fan project has garnered, it wouldn’t be surprising if the game’s plans or scope undergo some changes.
