This impressive Skyrim follower mod outshines Bethesda’s original characters.
Here’s an interesting tidbit: Lydia, the loyal follower from Skyrim who captured the hearts of gamers, originally had just about 50 voiced lines when the game launched. In contrast, the ambitious mod Feris the Follower recently received an update that adds a whopping 450 new lines of dialogue—fully voiced and crafted by hand, not generated by AI. This is in addition to Feris’ already impressive collection of 6,000 voice lines, which cover nearly every quest in the base game.
These lines aren’t just filler, either. Feris engages with players and often offers multiple responses to various topics. She has something to say about everything, from the weather to philosophical musings. One user on a modding forum remarked, “Utterly unbelievable,” praising Feris and noting that, having created their own follower mods and tried many community options, they believe Feris surpasses most of them.
If you’re curious about Feris the Follower, there’s a 16-minute introduction trailer available that showcases her character.
The latest update not only introduces new dialogue but also fixes bugs in Feris’ existing lines. It enhances her idle chatter and allows her to react to specific scenarios, such as when the player is a vampire. What’s particularly impressive is that the mod creator, Lirinden_, is still actively developing the mod. They are currently working on dialogue options for the Dragonborn DLC and planning three-way conversations involving Feris and other follower mods.
In addition to the extensive dialogue, Feris comes with her own questline, which is triggered as players build a relationship with her. It’s clear that Bethesda wouldn’t have been able to create a version of Skyrim where every follower has thousands of lines, but nearly 15 years post-launch, it’s understandable why dedicated players might feel the original dialogue has become a bit repetitive.
“I have been playing Skyrim for over a decade,” one user shared on Feris’ download page, “and she is my favorite follower now.”
