This tough phone features a retractable action camera.
Imagine if your smartphone’s camera could break free from the confines of the device’s back. At MWC 2026, we got a glimpse of Honor’s Robot Phone, which boasts a camera mounted on a stabilized gimbal arm that can pop up and survey its surroundings, though it remains tethered to the phone. In contrast, the RugOne Xsnap 7 Pro from Ulefone takes a different approach, allowing you to detach one of its rear cameras and use it as a standalone action camera.
The Xsnap 7 Pro marks a significant entry from Ulefone’s new RugOne sub-brand, following the Xever 7 and 7 Pro. Rather than aiming for a sleek profile, this device embraces a robust and bulky design, prioritizing rugged functionality and unique features that set it apart from typical smartphones.
One standout feature is its magnetic modular accessory system, which includes the detachable action camera. While it may be smaller than the Insta360 Go Ultra, it offers comparable capabilities. When separated, the phone acts as a preview screen for the action cam via a wireless connection. When docked, the phone can download and store footage from the camera while recharging it using its impressive 9,000mAh battery.
A prototype of the RugOne Xsnap 7 Pro was showcased at MWC 2026, but details on pricing and an official launch date remain under wraps. However, some specs were revealed: it will be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8400 5G chip, equipped with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The device will feature a 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, a 32-megapixel hole-punch selfie camera, a night vision camera on the rear, and will run on Android 16. Keep in mind, these specifications may evolve as the phone transitions from prototype to production.
