Thor’s New Look and Fresh Motivation Revealed in Avengers: Doomsday Trailer
The latest trailer for Avengers: Doomsday has dropped, showcasing Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in a striking new look. Gone are the long locks from Avengers: Endgame and Thor: Love and Thunder; instead, Thor sports a shorter hairstyle reminiscent of his appearance in Avengers: Infinity War.
In this brief clip, we see Thor traversing a forest, reaching out to his father, Odin, for assistance. This marks our first glimpse of Love since her introduction in Thor: Love and Thunder, the young girl he took in after the demise of her father, Gorr the God Butcher.
“Father, all my life I have answered every call. To honor, duty, to war. But now fate has given me something I never sought. A child, a life untouched by the storm,” Thor expresses, followed by a tender moment where he kisses Love on the forehead.
“Lend me the strength of the All-Fathers so that I may fight once more, defeat one more enemy, and return home to her,” he continues. “Not as a warrior, but as warmth. To teach her not battle, but stillness. The kind I never knew. Please, father, heed my words.” The trailer concludes with a promise that “Thor will return in Avengers: Doomsday.”
Thor isn’t the only Avenger stepping into fatherhood in this installment. Another teaser featuring Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers hints that the former Captain America also has a child. We know Doctor Doom has his sights set on the powerful baby Franklin, son of the Fantastic Four’s Reed Richards and Sue Storm, suggesting that he may not be the only super-child in danger.
Joining Hemsworth and Evans in the expansive cast for the new Avengers film are Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, along with Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Simu Liu, Letitia Wright, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, and James Marsden.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on December 18.
