Tim Cook Shares His Farewell Message to Apple Employees as CEO

Tim Cook, who took the reins from Steve Jobs, has transformed Apple into a global titan, becoming an integral part of the daily lives of billions since he became CEO in 2011. Today marks his final day in that role.

As we transition to new leadership under John Ternus, here’s Cook’s heartfelt farewell message to the Apple team:

> Team,
> Today is my last day as CEO of Apple. This moment has always felt inevitable, yet it’s hard to believe it’s finally here as I write this. My love for this company and the incredible team behind it compels me to reach out and express my gratitude for the overwhelming support you’ve shown me. Thank you for your dedication and for the honor of serving as your leader.
> The truth is, any success I’ve had is a reflection of you all. You’ve inspired me to be my best. In my life, I’ve never encountered such an extraordinary group of individuals, and I witness that brilliance every day.
> Apple is truly special. I take pride in what an annual report can’t convey. This company exemplifies how culture can prevail over everything. We believe in the significance of our work and recognize our duty to improve the world. That shared purpose is what makes Apple exceptional. It’s a spirit that existed within each of you long before you joined, drawing you to this company and fueling your daily efforts. Together, we’ve built something far beyond what any of us could have achieved alone. That’s the essence of our success: we elevate one another. We’ve made our mark on the universe, as Steve once put it, because of who we are, what we value, and how we perceive the world. I feel incredibly fortunate.
> While I’m not leaving Apple, I am stepping away from a role I’ve cherished deeply. I will miss this work in ways I can hardly fathom, but I find peace in my decision. I will miss leading you and sharing every moment, yet I take great comfort in passing the torch to someone as brilliant and capable as John. Few understand what it takes to create world-changing products like he does, and I’m excited for his leadership.
> I hope you know how much I value you and what an honor it has been to serve as your CEO. Most importantly, I hope you continue to take pride in being part of this remarkable place we call Apple and always strive to give your best. When we invest our whole selves into this work, caring for one another and those we serve, we can make an incredible impact.
> I look forward to seeing you in my new role at Apple Park and around the globe.
> With all I have and all I am, I am always
> Yours,
> Tim
