Toby Fox Teases Exciting New Dialogue for Deltarune Chapter 5, Sparking Fan Excitement: “What are you up to, Toby?”

We don’t have a specific release date for Deltarune Chapter 5 yet, but Toby Fox is confident it will drop this year. Along with this update, he shared a sneak peek of some dialogue that’s ramping up excitement among fans.

“Happy 2026 everyone! Deltarune Chapter 5 is on track to release later this year!” Fox announced on Twitter, followed by a teaser to satisfy the eager fanbase. “The translation is already underway. Here are some lines I took from the translation sheet.”

The screenshot features various character lines pulled from the cast spreadsheet. There’s Koody chatting about a worm, some action text like “you used the Annoying Dog,” and a move described as “deployed like an off-brand missile.” Additionally, some lines from Seam touch on the Shadow Crystals and other lore, while Susie inquires about your favorite horror movie.

All of this is pretty standard fare for a video game, but fans of the previous chapters are buzzing about it.

“Putting that Seam dialogue front and center because he knows people will go wild over it, so why pretend to be sneaky?” one user commented. “Everyone’s losing it over the shadow crystal stuff, and I can’t stop thinking about The Way of the Worm,” another added.

“TOBY WHAT ARE YOU DOING?? THAT’S SHADOW CRYSTAL LORE??? AND MENTIONING DESS??? SEAM????????” a third user expressed with excitement.

Fox had previously stated throughout 2025 that Deltarune Chapter 5 wouldn’t arrive in the first half of 2026. Chapters 3 and 4 were released in the summer of 2025, four years after the second chapter. The intervals between releases seem to be shortening, and hopefully, this update from Fox indicates that everything is progressing smoothly behind the scenes.
