Tomb Raider TV series featuring Sophie Turner and Sigourney Weaver welcomes 10 new cast members, including Jason Isaacs from Harry Potter.

After weeks of speculation, it’s now official: Sigourney Weaver will join Sophie Turner in the upcoming Tomb Raider series on Prime Video. But she’s just one of many exciting additions to this highly anticipated adaptation of the beloved video game franchise.

On December 6, the streaming service announced that Weaver will portray Evelyn Wallis, an enigmatic and ambitious character eager to leverage Lara Croft’s adventurous skills. The cast also includes Celia Imrie as Francine, the head of the British Museum, and Paterson Joseph as Thomas Warner, a senior government official.

Fans of the franchise will be particularly thrilled to see Martin Bobb-Semple, known for Free Rein, take on the role of Lara’s tech-savvy friend, James ‘Zip’ Whitman. Bill Paterson from House of the Dragon will play the Croft family butler, Winston Smith, while Jason Isaacs, famous for his role in Harry Potter, will portray Lara’s uncle, Atlas de Mornay.

The cast continues to grow with Sasha Luss (Sasha), John Hefferman (David), August Wittgenstein (Lukas), Juliette Motamed (Georgia), and Jack Bannon (Gerry) also joining the lineup.

De Mornay’s character is particularly intriguing, as he was only mentioned in the games Rise of the Tomb Raider and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, but had a more significant presence in issue 7 of Dark Horse Comics’ rebooted series. This could suggest where writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge is drawing her inspiration. Waller-Bridge will co-showrun alongside Chad Hodge, with Jonathan Van Tulleken directing.

“Tomb Raider features a wealth of iconic characters. I’m excited to bring some personal and fan favorites to life while also introducing a few new characters of our own,” Waller-Bridge expressed. “This cast is beyond my wildest dreams!”

As we await further updates on the Tomb Raider series, there’s plenty of buzz around upcoming TV shows and video game movies to keep fans engaged.
